Dieterich Community School District Unit #30


Throughout its history, the Dieterich Community Unit School District has offered exemplary education for the residents and surrounding community.  Dieterich schools are able to offer small class sizes with highly experienced teaching professionals.  Despite having an intimate school experience, students are offered a variety of extracurricular and learning opportunities.  For more information on the school district please visit the CUSD 30 website.

Community Involvement/Support


Dieterich Community Education Foundation – Provides college scholarships for Dieterich High School graduates.

Dieterich Sportsbackers – Assists the athletic program to enhance the students’ extra-curricular experiences.

Village of Dieterich – The school and village work closely to help develop and grow the community.

Local Business Community – The school receives financial assistance from local business in all areas to increase the quality of education at Dieterich Schools.  Additionally, the school and businesses partner to provide career education to gain insight into the career opportunities within the Dieterich community.

New & Exciting Things at Dieterich Schools


Dieterich After School Program (ASP) – Housed at Dieterich Unit #30, the ASP provides a fun, welcoming and safe place for K-6 students to come after school while their parents are still working.  The program provides games, crafts, snacks and time for homework.

Dual Credit Courses – Dieterich High School has increased the Dual Credit offerings in partnership with Lake Land College.  Students will have the opportunity to gain college credit while attending Dieterich High School.

Chromebook Labs – The District is moving toward increasing student opportunities with technology.  Mobile chromebook labs have been added at the elementary and the Jr-Sr high school.

Greenhouse – The Dieterich FFA and Agriculture Program will soon be adding a new greenhouse.  The greenhouse will allow the program to explore all aspects of horticulture.  Additionally, the FFA program hosts one of the absolute best plant sales around!

Additional Highlights


Vocational Opportunities – Dieterich students participate in various vocational offerings including Health Occupations, Construction Trades and CEO (Creating Entrepreneurial Opportunities).  Area school leaders, in cooperation with Lake Land College, are currently developing a new Vocational and Career Center to be housed in Effingham.  All Effingham County students will benefit from the additional course offerings in many vocational areas.

Class Sizes – Dieterich students benefit greatly from smaller than average class sizes.  15 at the Jr-Sr High and 17 in the Elementary.

High Test Scores – Dieterich student annually perform at a high level on standardized testing.  Traditionally, math is a very strong subject for our students.

Below Average Per-Pupil Spending/Low Property Tax Rates – The Dieterich Board of Education has done an outstanding job of keeping costs low and performance high, giving the tax-payer more “bang for their buck” when it comes to their schools.

Special Days at Dieterich Unit #30 – Grandparent’s Day, Veteran’s Day Program, Christmas and Spring Concert/Art Show, School Play, Holiday Basketball Tournament, Senior Class Trip just to name a few.
